Ontario, Canada: Niagara Falls + Life Update

Thursday, June 8, 2017

Hello all! How are you? Been a while, eh? Over the weekend I ventured on a road trip to Canada. Being in the North East of the US it is quite easy to cross the Canadian border. Since my family and I moved up to Massachusetts we have talked about making a trip to see Niagara Falls. Hearing that the view was better on the Canadian side, my family all had our passports ready to go. Which btw, if you cross the border you don't get a stamp in your passport. Could've just been me who didn't know that but I was quite upset that I didn't get my Canada stamp (; Anyway, we didn't plan much to do because that's just how my family and I have learned to roll when it comes to traveling. We spent two days and one night in Canada. The first day we arrived we wanted to relax a little while before we planned anything. We stayed at the Holiday Inn on a hill that lead down to the falls. That hill kicked my butt when it came to the exercise but it was such a pretty walk from the hotel to the falls. My mom and I both agreed that the area the hotel was around had a Vegas feel to it.

The first day, after resting up, we headed to see what activities we should try. We ended up doing the Journey Behind the Falls, and the Skylon Tower. Which I recommend doing both of these towards the evening. Behind the Falls didn't have many people towards the evening, so it was more pleasant. Canada does a firework show at 10:00pm right by the falls, which happen to be brightly colored from 8:45pm-2am. I heard that the restaurant in the tower is pretty good, but we just didn't make it in time to experience it.

One thing that surprised me about Canada was that places didn't open until way later than you expect. My family was up and ready at 9am and barely anything was open. The Starbucks didn't open until 10:30am and we didn't have to check out of the hotel until 2pm. That being said half of my family biked by the falls while my brother and I walked around them. Again, it was quite pleasant due to not many people being around at the time.

There were many activities that you could do, but we decided that the White Water Walk would be a neat attraction, and it did not disappoint. You are right beside the most dangerous rapids and if you go to the lower part of the walk the water will come over the sidewalk, which is pretty cool for kids.

The last stop we wanted to make was St. Catharines, Canada. Of course I made this a stop because it has the spelling of my name, which is constantly questioned by acquaintances. Yes, yes it is indeed a different spelling of the name, but it does in fact sound the same as any other spelling. We stopped for lunch at a place called The WORKS, which had some pretty darn good burgers and milkshakes. For those of you curious, it is a local chain (if that makes any sense) to Toronto. After that yummy adventure we headed back home to Massachusetts.

Overall it was a fun, easy adventure out of the U.S. that I was happy we were able to make before I leave the North East. Which leads me to this life update.....

I'm moving!! No not my whole family this time, just me. It is quite a confusing matter if I get into all the details, but I am moving back to South Carolina in hopes to continue my education at the community college as well as a University. As I write this now I am currently surrounded by boxes. The plan is to move myself and all my stuff to South Carolina by the end of this summer. Things have been crazy and I am in that pre-move mood. If you have moved you know that feeling, all the emotions are everywhere. Massachusetts will always have a link to me, and I hope to visit it again, Lord willing that my parents stay up here. A sentimental letter will probably be written sometime soon; because like I said the emotions are running around.

I know this is kind of a whirlwind of a post, but bare with me. Lots more travel posts are in the future, and if anyone is interested in the moving process let me know and I can do a few posts or even venture into the Vlogging world. Thanks for reading! xo

Why hello! Easter is my favorite holiday for many reasons, and getting to pick out a new spring outfit every year makes it all the more fun. As the years have gone by I have become better at planning my outfits ahead of time, especially because of shipping reasons (NYFW also taught me a lesson on this...). Above are a few favorites of mine. This navy, this bow detail, this laser cut detail are all up there as well! To sum it up, just give me lace, floral or bow details, and spring pastels and I will be the happiest girl hopping around on Easter.

Below are also a list of stores that I look to for dresses for any occasion. A quick tip, if you are on a budget look at smaller boutiques. Most you can find through Instagram or Pinterest, but I do have a few listed below.

Favorite Stores

Have any of y'all seen the new Beauty and the Beast??!! It came out while I was back visiting in South Carolina, so I am dying to see it. It was pretty crazy so I also wanted to wait until the crowds past to see it. Fingers crossed I get to see it this weekend!

New York Fashion Week Rookie

(Can you tell it was trash day in NYC?!)

Finally! A New York Fashion Week post! I haven't been very active on this little blog or on any other platform of media, so most of you probably don't know that I got an invitation to experience a New York fashion show during the hectic time of NYFW. It was my first inviation ever, so how could I turn it down?! I live within a decent amount of hours away from the city, so my momma and I packed up and drove to NYC last Friday.

To Stay:
We'll start off with where we stayed, shall we? As someone who is always looking for an Instagram worthy snapshot the Intercontinental New York Barclay was the "it" hotel! It is a decent price range and a few blocks away from Rockefeller center. The only downside my mom and I found was how thin the walls were in the rooms. But besides that it was such a good stay.

To Eat:
Once we arrived Friday night we were pretty hungry, so we went on the hunt for a good place to eat near the hotel. We came upon Salvation Burger, which was delicious! You will need many napkins for their juicy burgers.

Saturday morning we took our time sleeping in and getting ready for the day. Once we were ready to leave we headed to Chelsea Market to eat. My mom ordered chicken marsala soup from Hale and Hearty Soups while I ordered the "Sofia" sandwich from Cappone's.

After the fashion show we walked a few blocks to a coffee shop by the name Cafe Grumpy. I ordered a toasted marshmallow latte, which of course had the latte art. I mean how could you go to a city and not get latte art?!

To Do:
This was a short trip and it was solely for the fashion show, so we didn't plan much. I knew we were going to be around the Chelsea area, and I've always wanted to go check out the High Line. So after grabbing a coffee my mom and I lugged around the picks from a crazy good Anthropologie sale and walked the top part of the High Line. If I could recommend anything to a first timer in NYC it would be the High Line. It was so cool being in the city but a level above. It was surprisingly calm and peaceful; completely opposite the normal tourist buzz of the city.

It was my first New York Fashion Week, so it was a very exciting time. Obviously I haven't been as active on the blog because of craziness that is happening in my family's life, but I was really hoping this trip would get me back into the swing of things. Which did prove to be correct because my imagination has been inspired! Now all I have to do is figure out my shoots with this New England sunset time *insert monkey covering eyes emoji*. Anyway, I was invited to the up and coming designer, Yuna Yang's show. Her pieces were absolutely beautiful and inspiring. My favorite had to be the white, floral pant suit that's pictured above. It was definitely an experience I hope to repeat in the near future.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend, and thanks for reading lovely! xo

Better Late Than Never

Tuesday, September 1, 2015

Top- Anthropologie [similar here]
Shorts- American Eagle
Shoes- DSW
Bag- Kate Spade [similar]
Earrings- Old, similar
Necklace- Etsy
Bracelet- Susie Raine

I've had this top since May and i'm just now obsessed with it. Better late than never right? Anyway, they no longer have it in stock but I linked a few similar ones. After that one shopping trip I realized how amazing Anthro's quality is. So if you are on the edge about taking the leap because of the price I would grab something from the sale section and give it a test drive.

My work schedule is pretty off for a "normal" job, which means Mondays are not so bad, because it's usually my day off. This week I also had Tuesday off so I could say it was a pretty good "weekend" for me haha! Oh and happy 1st of September!

Ruffle & Mesh Sleeves

Friday, July 31, 2015

Top- Pink Pineapple; similar here & here
Denim- Anthropologie
Shoes- Old, similar
Bag- Francesca's; similar
Earrings- Kate Spade
Bracelets- Altar'd State; A gift (similar)

I'm pretty sure the reason I bought this top was solely because of the sleeves. The detail is so unique and something I have never seen before. I got it at a boutique in Newport, RI and they don't have it online at all (it may not even be in the store either). However, I did link a few similar tops below.

Can someone please explain to me how today is the last day of July for 2015?! I swear this year has gone by like no other and I absolutely hate it. There are just not enough hours in the day; that may be cliche but goodness gracious is it true.

Happy Fri-yay, y'all! Thanks for reading, xo

Future Repeat Buttondown

Denim- Anthropologie
Heels- Lulu's
Sunnies- Charming Charlie
Earrings- Old, similar
Bracelets- A gift, similar

My brothers and grandpa do their hunting while my grandma and I do our hunting. Shopping that is. While in South Carolina we stopped by Anthropologie and I picked up this top. Correction: I picked up two colors of this top. I immediately knew it was a staple I need in my closet in many colors.

I flew back to northern land on Wednesday, and if you saw my airplane Instagram then you know it was really hard to leave! I just hate leaving my comfort zone, but I have a busy weekend so I am hoping that gets my mind off of things. Thanks for reading! xo

I recently created a board on Pinterest devoted to items I have my eye on or in my shopping cart. I never realized that I really only pin things from Anthropologie or Kate Spade, oopsies haha. But really, have you seen Kate Spade's new arrivals?! It's all about flamingos; yet another reason why I will work for Kate Spade one day. Anyway, today I am just showing you my top favorites at the moment. If you want to check out the rest of my board or my Pinterest in general you can head over here.
