Ontario, Canada: Niagara Falls + Life Update

Thursday, June 8, 2017

Hello all! How are you? Been a while, eh? Over the weekend I ventured on a road trip to Canada. Being in the North East of the US it is quite easy to cross the Canadian border. Since my family and I moved up to Massachusetts we have talked about making a trip to see Niagara Falls. Hearing that the view was better on the Canadian side, my family all had our passports ready to go. Which btw, if you cross the border you don't get a stamp in your passport. Could've just been me who didn't know that but I was quite upset that I didn't get my Canada stamp (; Anyway, we didn't plan much to do because that's just how my family and I have learned to roll when it comes to traveling. We spent two days and one night in Canada. The first day we arrived we wanted to relax a little while before we planned anything. We stayed at the Holiday Inn on a hill that lead down to the falls. That hill kicked my butt when it came to the exercise but it was such a pretty walk from the hotel to the falls. My mom and I both agreed that the area the hotel was around had a Vegas feel to it.

The first day, after resting up, we headed to see what activities we should try. We ended up doing the Journey Behind the Falls, and the Skylon Tower. Which I recommend doing both of these towards the evening. Behind the Falls didn't have many people towards the evening, so it was more pleasant. Canada does a firework show at 10:00pm right by the falls, which happen to be brightly colored from 8:45pm-2am. I heard that the restaurant in the tower is pretty good, but we just didn't make it in time to experience it.

One thing that surprised me about Canada was that places didn't open until way later than you expect. My family was up and ready at 9am and barely anything was open. The Starbucks didn't open until 10:30am and we didn't have to check out of the hotel until 2pm. That being said half of my family biked by the falls while my brother and I walked around them. Again, it was quite pleasant due to not many people being around at the time.

There were many activities that you could do, but we decided that the White Water Walk would be a neat attraction, and it did not disappoint. You are right beside the most dangerous rapids and if you go to the lower part of the walk the water will come over the sidewalk, which is pretty cool for kids.

The last stop we wanted to make was St. Catharines, Canada. Of course I made this a stop because it has the spelling of my name, which is constantly questioned by acquaintances. Yes, yes it is indeed a different spelling of the name, but it does in fact sound the same as any other spelling. We stopped for lunch at a place called The WORKS, which had some pretty darn good burgers and milkshakes. For those of you curious, it is a local chain (if that makes any sense) to Toronto. After that yummy adventure we headed back home to Massachusetts.

Overall it was a fun, easy adventure out of the U.S. that I was happy we were able to make before I leave the North East. Which leads me to this life update.....

I'm moving!! No not my whole family this time, just me. It is quite a confusing matter if I get into all the details, but I am moving back to South Carolina in hopes to continue my education at the community college as well as a University. As I write this now I am currently surrounded by boxes. The plan is to move myself and all my stuff to South Carolina by the end of this summer. Things have been crazy and I am in that pre-move mood. If you have moved you know that feeling, all the emotions are everywhere. Massachusetts will always have a link to me, and I hope to visit it again, Lord willing that my parents stay up here. A sentimental letter will probably be written sometime soon; because like I said the emotions are running around.

I know this is kind of a whirlwind of a post, but bare with me. Lots more travel posts are in the future, and if anyone is interested in the moving process let me know and I can do a few posts or even venture into the Vlogging world. Thanks for reading! xo

Early Bird Easter Dress Hunting

Why hello! Easter is my favorite holiday for many reasons, and getting to pick out a new spring outfit every year makes it all the more fun. As the years have gone by I have become better at planning my outfits ahead of time, especially because of shipping reasons (NYFW also taught me a lesson on this...). Above are a few favorites of mine. This navy, this bow detail, this laser cut detail are all up there as well! To sum it up, just give me lace, floral or bow details, and spring pastels and I will be the happiest girl hopping around on Easter.

Below are also a list of stores that I look to for dresses for any occasion. A quick tip, if you are on a budget look at smaller boutiques. Most you can find through Instagram or Pinterest, but I do have a few listed below.

Favorite Stores

Have any of y'all seen the new Beauty and the Beast??!! It came out while I was back visiting in South Carolina, so I am dying to see it. It was pretty crazy so I also wanted to wait until the crowds past to see it. Fingers crossed I get to see it this weekend!

Thanks for reading! xo

New York Fashion Week Rookie

(Can you tell it was trash day in NYC?!)

Finally! A New York Fashion Week post! I haven't been very active on this little blog or on any other platform of media, so most of you probably don't know that I got an invitation to experience a New York fashion show during the hectic time of NYFW. It was my first inviation ever, so how could I turn it down?! I live within a decent amount of hours away from the city, so my momma and I packed up and drove to NYC last Friday.

To Stay:
We'll start off with where we stayed, shall we? As someone who is always looking for an Instagram worthy snapshot the Intercontinental New York Barclay was the "it" hotel! It is a decent price range and a few blocks away from Rockefeller center. The only downside my mom and I found was how thin the walls were in the rooms. But besides that it was such a good stay.

To Eat:
Once we arrived Friday night we were pretty hungry, so we went on the hunt for a good place to eat near the hotel. We came upon Salvation Burger, which was delicious! You will need many napkins for their juicy burgers.

Saturday morning we took our time sleeping in and getting ready for the day. Once we were ready to leave we headed to Chelsea Market to eat. My mom ordered chicken marsala soup from Hale and Hearty Soups while I ordered the "Sofia" sandwich from Cappone's.

After the fashion show we walked a few blocks to a coffee shop by the name Cafe Grumpy. I ordered a toasted marshmallow latte, which of course had the latte art. I mean how could you go to a city and not get latte art?!

To Do:
This was a short trip and it was solely for the fashion show, so we didn't plan much. I knew we were going to be around the Chelsea area, and I've always wanted to go check out the High Line. So after grabbing a coffee my mom and I lugged around the picks from a crazy good Anthropologie sale and walked the top part of the High Line. If I could recommend anything to a first timer in NYC it would be the High Line. It was so cool being in the city but a level above. It was surprisingly calm and peaceful; completely opposite the normal tourist buzz of the city.

It was my first New York Fashion Week, so it was a very exciting time. Obviously I haven't been as active on the blog because of craziness that is happening in my family's life, but I was really hoping this trip would get me back into the swing of things. Which did prove to be correct because my imagination has been inspired! Now all I have to do is figure out my shoots with this New England sunset time *insert monkey covering eyes emoji*. Anyway, I was invited to the up and coming designer, Yuna Yang's show. Her pieces were absolutely beautiful and inspiring. My favorite had to be the white, floral pant suit that's pictured above. It was definitely an experience I hope to repeat in the near future.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend, and thanks for reading lovely! xo

May You Be An Adventure

Sunday, January 1, 2017

2016. You were a year for sure. I learned a lot. Goals were met and more goals were made. I learned a lot about myself, other people, and adulthood. Even though this blog was not active like I would've wanted it to be, it was still there and still is. And so are you! Which is why I want to thank you for following on my 2016 map! May this journey be an adventure, dear 2017!

POPSUGAR Must Have

Friday, October 7, 2016

Oh my goodness am I excited for today's post! You know those monthly subscription boxes that you see everyone talking about? Well POPSUGAR has there own fabulous one and y'all it is just that. You have the option to order there must have mini box, which is $18.95 a month. Or the you can pick a plan for the must have box which has a retail value over $100 for $39.95. They do have a special limited edition one right now that has a retail value of over $650 for $225, so that's saving you over $400 right there! Usually I just see those boxes and think "that's a cool idea I should do that!", but once I received I truly understood how awesome these boxes are haha!

Last time I got my hair done my hairdresser told me that I needed a deep conditioner for my hair. Well what do you know showed up in this box? A deep conditioner! And y'all it wasn't just a little travel size, no this was the real deal. Same thing goes with the lip gloss; i've been meaning to grab a red lip gloss for the holiday season and a new brand, I have yet to try, happened to be in the box.
I love the way POPSUGAR plans their boxes because there is a unique variety in it. Such as, one fashion item, one beauty, one food, etc.

Oh and the hat, one of the hottest trends this season, just so happened to be "tucked" away in there. Y'all this hat alone had a value over the monthly subscription cost alone. Basically you need to go get yourself a box this month because it's a real treat and you know they do say to treat yo self!

Thank you to POPSUGAR and ShopStyle for sponsoring this post. All opinions are my own.

Life Update: Going Back to the True Meaning

Tuesday, September 20, 2016

Why hello there. Long time no post. So this is to catch you up.

Starting off with the big stuff first..... school is a thing for me once again. It has come back into my life after my gap year. I am going to a community college to earn my associates degree then pursuing my bachelor's degree elsewhere. I know a lot of people look down on community colleges because they think they are not "real colleges", and I know I was in that group of people for a while. But given that I was home schooled basically all through school I thought that starting out in a smaller class room would be the best decision for me personally. Not to mention taking a year off of academics as well as continue working outside of school. I have never felt like I made the best decision in my life than I did when I started my courses two weeks ago.

Work. Like I said I am still continuing to take advantage of the experience I can gather from the retail world. I was lucky enough to have a boss who wants to help get me started in my career. So that has been very exciting.

I just got all four of my wisdom teeth out this past weekend, so I have not been in the outside world since Saturday. Tomorrow however I have a class as an excuse to leave my bed. Thank you Jesus for not letting me have any absences through this. One thing about community college is that the professors don't accept slack, especially missing classes. I was very nervous about missing classes but it all turned out in the end, hallelujah!

Down to the more little stuff.... I really just have not felt as inspired from Instagram to blog posts like I have the previous years. It doesn't matter how much I search Pinterest it just has not come to me. You can even see it in just my everyday wear too. I think I have swayed from the inspiration being for me to what everyone else expects and wants. So the next few posts that I may have may not be things that all of you want to see (aka fall inspiration) but they are the things that I want to post for me.

Overall I think there has been a shift in my life. I have neglected things that I shouldn't have and made other things a priority when I didn't need them to be. I think half of the reason for this post is for me to simply type out what has been going through my head lately and try and figure it out. Readers or no readers I want this place to be somewhere I go to escape and have fun with. Not something I need to be uptight about. Because that was how this blog started. Sitting in a tiny room on my first trip to little old Cape Cod and seeing an Instagram post about fashion and blogging. I hopped onto Blogger to start my own blog and immediately started on my first post because I was so excited to learn this new outlet.

That was the reason and that's what I'm going back to. So we shall see where this takes me! (;

Dress- Banana Republic, same exact but different color here // Leather Jacket- Nordstrom Rack, similar here, love this // Shoes- Nordstrom Rack // Earrings- Old, similar here // Necklace- Similar here // Bracelets- Gifted, similar here; Heart of Stone; Heart of Stone

This dress is one of the best items in my closet as of late. It's the perfect transition piece, and I think it's the best for traveling because it's so light. I love the two slits at the bottom; it gives the dress a little character. I love pairing it with sandals and a denim jacket, or as is. for the spring and summer. Then in the fall I would switch to a pair of booties and leather jacket. Now I just have to hold myself back from purchasing the black color too!

The mornings have started to get cooler up here in the Northeast, so i've started planning out everything I want to get accomplished before school starts/the weather turns colder. If you have a must on your list then let me know! I want these next few weeks to be pure adventure.

Thanks for reading, y'all! xo
